The INTOSAI WGEA Secretariat would like to wish everyone a great start to the new year. The year 2022 was an eventful one especially as the working group held in first hybrid Assembly in cooperation with the Auditor General Office of Maldives. It has also been heartening to notice the growing interest in environmental auditing as the working group has received new members. The INTOSAI WGEA now consists of 83 members altogether.
The year 2023 kicks off the second term of SAI Finland’s INTOSAI WGEA Chairmanship. Moreover, in 2023, we will start the new Work Plan with two thematic hubs: 1) climate and biodiversity and 2) green economy. The work will be supported by a Steering Committee, where we have recently welcomed three new members: SAIs of Egypt, the Maldives and the UK. This year the INTOSAI WGEA Steering Committee will also be meeting face-to-face for the first time since 2018 at the 19th Steering Committee Meeting in Rabat Morocco on 13 – 16 March 2023.
The INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) aims to increase the expertise in environmental auditing and to enhance environmental governance with high-quality contribution and visibility by both members of the Working Group and non–member SAIs. Currently the INTOSAI WGEA consists of 86 member countries.
